Phil Hodgson joined Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council in February 2005 as Corporate Director of Social Services, following 18 years at Oxfordshire County Council. The last position he held at Oxfordshire was Deputy Director of Social and Health Care.

With experience in children and adult services in the public sector, he is committed to providing good quality Social Services.  He expects his department to work corporately within the Council and with other agencies to provide relevant and flexible services to enable people to reach their full potential and maintain independence.
