The Division undertakes the following core activities: -
Local Government
- Provision of specialist advice in all areas of the Council’s work
- Assist in policy development and take a proactive role to protect the Council’s interests.
- Provision of advice on changes in the law relevant to local government.
- Draft and develop documentation to accord with statutory requirements and to implement the Council’s decisions.
Administration
- Provision of comprehensive advice on public authority functions and powers and the application of statutory provisions to various functions.
- Provision of advice on Council’s procedures, Standing Orders etc.
Human Resources
- Provision of advice on employee relations including matters of discipline, health and capability.
- Provision of advocates in Employment Tribunals.
