The Regeneration Division has a major role to play in the development and implementation of the new strategic agenda facing the Council. This is a result of the Welsh Assembly Government’s modernisation agenda where there are major new expectations being placed on the Local Authority including:

  • identification of community needs and priorities;
  • development of an outward focus;
  • development of partnerships;
  • providing leadership and vision for the local community;
  • delivering high quality services for the community.

In recent years there has been an increase in the range of new initiatives regarding regeneration, social inclusion, community development and performance management. There is a greater emphasis now on strategic planning, joined up working and partnership working. It is vitally important that the Regeneration Division develops the capacity to respond to these expectations and to assist in the development of corporate arrangements to drive the new programme for change.

There is a strong relationship between the work of the Regeneration Division and other Council functions including: - education, housing, and leisure.  These connections are important for the delivery of joined up working and effective services to the community.
