The Financial Policy Unit comprises of the Value for Money Team, the Procurement Team and the Corporate Services Team and is responsible for the development and co-ordination of financial policy initiatives across the Authority, together with aspects of corporate finance.  This unit also provides the environment to drive forward corporate efficiency initatives.

Corporate Procurement

This section acts as Blaenau Gwent’s representative for Procurement improvement across Local Government in Wales. Procurement is the function of obtaining Works, Goods & Services through proper acquisition processes and by the planned and skilful management of the markets. These decisions must reflect and support the Council’s aims and objectives.

This section provides advice, guidance and support to internal customers and external suppliers to improve their procurement performance via best practice processes and techniques.  As well as administering and negotiating Corporate Contracts.
