Corporate Health Standard - Bronze Award

A national mark of quality for health promotion in the workplace has been awarded to the Council. The Bronze Corporate Standard was presented to the Chief Executive, Robin Morrison and Corporate Human Resources Officer, Keri Jones by Welsh Assembly Health Minister, Jane Hutt.
'We were told that the panel were delighted to award the bronze standard to us and that we were in fact close to being awarded the silver. It reinforces the Council's commitment to the health and wellbeing of our employees. As the largest employer in Blaenau Gwent, it sets a good example for other organisations and businesses to take the same opportunity to set good standards' said Chief Executive, Robin Morrison.
The standard which is part of the 'Better Health Wales' initiative is to recognise good practice and the quality of health promotion in organisations. The Council provided evidence of achievement in nine categories: level of commitment, health promotion communication, involvement of employees, men and women's health issues, stress management, health and safety, no smoking policy, exercise and nutrition and risks in the workplace.
