Are you enthusiastic, highly motivated, capable of making decisions and work effectively under pressure? If so an opportunity has arisen in the Technical Services Division for a Highways Maintenance Manager.

The post is responsible to the Highways & Traffics Manager, responsible for ensuring that the Authority’s highway structure is maintained to a safe level for the residents of Blaenau Gwent and users of the highway. You will also undertake the delivery of key activities relating to highway maintenance within the County Borough.

Your main role will be to develop the Departments expertise in all aspects of highway maintenance, street lighting and traffic management and implement and comply with the Divisions responsibilities with regard to Health & Safety.

You should possess the leadership and management skills to motivate and encourage the development of the staff of the division through training. Assist in the preparation of Departmental and Corporate Plans and Policies.

You will be educated to the minimum of HNC, or equivalent standard in highway engineering and have substantial experience and knowledge in highway maintenance. You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and delegation skills and be able to work closely with private and public sector organisations.

The post carries an Essential Car User Allowance and therefore you should possess a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
